Summary/Objective:

Project architects manage the architectural design phases of a project. Project architects may participate in conceptual design but will mainly be focused on coordinating and managing the architectural design of projects through construction documentation. They work collaboratively with clients, consultants, and the design team to develop construction drawings according to schedule and budget. The project architect's duties include a leadership role among the draftspersons providing guidance for the drafting work needed for each project.

Essential Functions:

  1. Be able to visualize a building three-dimensionally as you work on architectural plans.
  2. Maintain visually appealing building designs.
  3. Communicate effectively with clients to determine their building needs.
  4. Manage multiple clients and design projects concurrently.
  5. Coordinate with the drafting team to produce drawing packages per the design schedule.
  6. Mentor and assist less-experienced draftspersons.
  7. Work with Speedwell Construction estimators and project managers to coordinate cost estimates and project schedules.
  8. Maintain an extensive knowledge of current building codes.
  9. Perform quality control checks of design work to ensure high-quality, constructible drawing packages are being produced.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for the daily management of the architectural design phases of assigned design projects. The project architect will be responsible for providing direction to draftspersons. They may also serve as a coach or information resource for other positions in the company.

Work Environment:

The employee will be in a busy office environment. The project architect will also attend meetings with customers and make occasional jobsite visits that may be outdoors. Personal Protective Equipment must be used on construction sites as situations require.

Physical Demands:

The project architect spends long hours sitting at a desk. The employee spends the majority of their day using office equipment which may cause eye or muscle strain. The employee will occasionally need to lift some of the office equipment, supplies and materials (10 lbs.) The employee, while attending jobsites, may be required to occasionally climb ladders and cross uneven ground.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is an exempt full-time position. Hours of work are Monday-Friday with 40 hours per week being the expectation. The employee may have to work evenings or weekends as required.

Travel:

The employee will spend the majority of their time at the office. The project architect will spend a portion of their time traveling to meetings with clients and visiting jobsites.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture degree
  • 5 or more years of experience in the field of architecture
  • Ability to visualize buildings three-dimensionally
  • Knowledge of commercial building design and construction

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Experience using Revit for architectural design
  • Experience in Design/Build Architecture
  • Ability to learn and use new technology as it becomes available

Work Authorization/Clearances:

The employee must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and Motor Vehicle Record review. The employee must have a current driver's license.

Summary/Objective:

Speedwell Construction's focus is to work hard, build excellent relationships, and build projects that satisfy our clients. We are looking for experienced traveling construction superintendents who are driven and skilled at putting together successful projects! A willingness to travel frequently and the ability to operate in different areas are also vital to success in this role.

A Field Superintendent typically has a minimum of 2 years of experience in a managerial role on some type of construction project. These projects may range in cost from $500,000 to 30 million or more. They will provide on-site coordination for all phases of construction projects, including coordinating multiple subcontractors, materials, and equipment while also ensuring that all construction documents are followed, and work is proceeding efficiently and on schedule. They also mentor, lead, motivate, and teach field personnel.

Essential Functions:

  1. The ability to travel and manage out-of-town work.
  2. Schedule and sequence subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and vendors in an overlapping fashion to reach superior levels of efficiency
  3. Produce and execute a three-week schedule
  4. Schedule and coordinate all required inspections, including those required for our sub-contractors when needed
  5. Ensure that the subcontractor is executing and complying with their scope of work and correcting all deficiencies identified by the project team
  6. Understand both the site layout and typical building layout procedures
  7. Lead required subcontractor meetings and preconstruction meetings to coordinate the work
  8. Perform quality control checks to verify that the work in place meets the expectations of Speedwell, the design team, local municipalities, and the owner
  9. Identify conflicts and issues in the construction process and communicate them to the project team for resolution
  10. Work to meet local township requirements
  11. Communicate with the project team regarding Submittals, Shop drawings, Change Orders, and Requests for Information (RFI'S)
  12. Maintain a consistent daily log of activities on the job site through the daily reporting software
  13. Develop and maintain open lines of communication with industry partners such as customers, engineers, architects, inspectors, sub-contractors, and fellow employees
  14. Maintain a clean and organized job site
  15. Identify all forms of site safety and hold all subcontractors and other personnel to the OSHA standards and Speedwell Safety Standards
  16. Develop, manage, and complete a punch list with extreme attention to detail and the utmost speed
  17. Able to put work in place if the situation requires
  18. Mentor less experienced Speedwell field personnel

Preferred Education and Experience:

  1. Minimum of 3 years in jobsite management
  2. Minimum of OSHA 10-hour certification and preferred OSHA 30-hour certification
  3. Basic understanding of Information Technology
  4. CPR/First Aid certification
  5. Experience with various construction trades
  6. Experience in commercial or industrial construction
